Firm-Wide and Multi-Office Projects
In 2007 the Stern family, long-time clients of the firm, made a generous gift to the Foundation,
to honor founders Jean and Sam Guyton on their 70th birthdays, to create a Foundation project especially for kids.
The Guytons created The Stern Family Project which challenged children to research charities
in their communities, choose one that interested them, try to volunteer there, and write an essay about the organization
and their experience. In 2008, thirty-three children from several offices wrote essays and each was awarded a check
for their charity. The charities the children selected fell into four main categories and will protect animals, feed the
hungry, shelter the homeless, and help children like them from around the world. Click here to see a PDF of their essays. Click here to see the project summary in the 2008 Foundation
annual report (pages 4-8). The Stern Family Project will be offered again during the summer of 2009.
We encourage you to participate. Click here to see a PDF of the project memo.

Hosted a thank-you BBQ luncheon/fundraiser for the Friday Food Bag Program (FFBP). The office invited clients, Western Vista Federal Credit Union and Frontier Refining, who had made monetary donations and volunteered to help with the program. Although Brian is not an employee of Holland & Hart, he is known as “The 12th Man” because of the time he devotes to our projects. Rosa and Brian Smith, dressed in Christmas costumes and bright smiles, delivered toys, clothing, household items, gift cards, and paper products to families in need. They were met with warmth and emotions that truly captured the Christmas Spirit. A young boy shouted with joy when he spotted “Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus” arriving at his home. Families responded with utter astonishment, tears, laughter, and everlasting smiles when they received our gifts.
