In 2001 a group of Boy Scouts began the Pocket Flag Project
with only 100 folded U.S. flags. Holland & Hart Foundation
volunteers got involved in the now international project in
2003 and have since organized the folding of more than 5,000
pocket-sized flags by Holland & Hart Foundation volunteers.
Each flag is accompanied by a card that reads, “A flag
for your pocket so you can always carry little piece of home.
We are praying for you and we are proud of you. Thank you
for defending our country and our freedom.”
These flags have been sent in support to our troops in Iraq
and Afghanistan. Over the last three years, the deeply appreciative
soldiers have contacted Holland & Hart volunteers through
emails and letters to express what these flags meant and how
the project has affected them.
On Friday, November 10, 2006, two Marines visited Holland
& Hart’s Denver office to thank all of the Foundation
volunteers for the pocket flags they received. Click
